New Delhi, Jun 19 (PTI) The Indian Youth Congress on Friday said that around 7,000 people received offer letters at a fair organised at the Talkatora Stadium in Delhi to mark the 56th birthday of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The opposition party’s youth wing said over 9,000 young people participated in the recruitment drive, where around 150 private companies, including Tata AIA, Flipkart, Zepto, Voltas, Tech Mahindra, Paytm, Aditya Birla, Hitachi and Urban Company, conducted on-the-spot interviews. Several other candidates were shortlisted for subsequent rounds of recruitment, it said.

The event, organised under the the outfit’s ‘Employment, Justice and Accountability’ campaign, drew thousands of job seekers from Delhi and neighbouring areas.

Senior Congress leaders, including AICC general secretary Sachin Pilot, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav, Lok Sabha MP Kishori Lal Sharma and Congress social media department chairperson Supriya Shrinate, attended the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Indian Youth Congress (IYC) national president Uday Bhanu Chib said unemployment and recurring paper leak controversies had become major concerns for young people across the country.

“While the country’s youth are grappling with the BJP-led Centre’s model of paper leaks and unemployment, the Indian Youth Congress — under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi — is presenting a model of ‘Jobs, Justice and Accountability’,” Chib said.

Describing unemployment as the biggest challenge facing the youth, Chib alleged that the BJP had failed to fulfil its promise of creating two crore jobs annually.

Chib said the job fair was aimed at connecting young job seekers with employers and providing opportunities that many candidates had been struggling to access.

“The BJP gave us unemployment; in response, we organised a job fair. The Youth Congress job fair is not merely an event, it is a movement driven by those who believe in Rahul Gandhi’s vision,” he said.

Referring to the turnout, he said the participation of thousands of youths reflected both the demand for jobs and growing frustration among candidates facing uncertainty over examinations and recruitment processes.

According to the party, registrations for the event had to be closed five days in advance after nearly 35,000 candidates signed up. PTI MSJ PRK
